The Machine is a commission for Movingstage Marionettes on The Puppet Theatre Barge. It is a Jean Tinguely style installation which moves by a series of motors, pulleys and belts and will appear in the forthcoming puppet production ‘The Getting of Wisdom’. It represents the economy and will be presented as a ‘Money Game’, with the illusion of marionette characters controlling its movements.

Jackajack is a show suitable for the whole family. It is a brand new, enchanted, beautiful story of courage that can inspire, excite and surprise it’s audience.

The destiny of the new world rests in the paws of one little puppy. Little Jack battles through a world of broken magic to find the girl in the white dress. He must travel into the Metallic Forest, over the Ever-Steeper Hill and across the haunted Cardboard Town; but will he be able to save himself? Strange creatures, flying umbrellas, and the truth about double-yellow lines; Jackajack is told through dynamic physical theatre and junkyard puppetry!

Tucked In’s aim is to produce a magical piece of storytelling that is suitable for children, yet universal in its appeal. We do not set out to patronise our younger audience members; rather let them experience fear, sadness and joy when watching live theatre. There is also an opportunity to meet the puppets after the show!

The show premiered in the eerie caves of the Underbelly during the Edinburgh Fringe 2007, where it was short-listed for two fringe awards. It was subsequently selected for performance at the prestigious National Student Drama Festival in 2008, and now heads further around the country in 2009. Combining an original ambient soundtrack and haunting puppets, Jackajack has successfully charmed both young and old alike! It is an original, emotionally engaging and entirely macabre theatrical event.

The Attic is a mechanical interactive installation, initially built as an end of degree piece at Brighton University. It has since been exhibited at the Shunt Vaults. It consists of a collection of Victorian and vintage objects found in markets and car boot sales, presented as characters within an attic structure. It appears as if the belongings of people from the past have been forgotten in an attic and gathered themselves together to form personalities of their own. They are brought to life with motorised mechanisms and manual pulley devises accompanied by an eerie sound track of layered musical boxes.
